India's TRAI to Slash Interconnection Charges for Mobile Networks
February 09, 2007
The TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) has announced to reduce the port charges - interconnection charges between different mobile networks, payable to telecom carriers - by 23% to 29%. The new measure is scheduled to take effect as of April 1, 2007. The charge reduction is expected to reduce operational costs for carriers but is said to have little benefits for consumers.
